Say who pulls the permit.
If a job needs a permit, customers want to know who handles it before they hire you. One plain line on your site answers it.
Some jobs need a permit. A water heater swap, a new circuit, a reroof, a patio cover. Your customer may not know which ones do. But a lot of them have heard a story about a job that got done without one and caused trouble later, when they went to sell the house.
So they wonder. Do you handle it, or do they? Is it in the price? Does it slow things down?
If your site doesn't say, they have to call and ask. Some will. Some will pick the contractor whose site already answered it.
What to put on the page
You don't need a long section. A few lines on your service page or FAQ covers it:
- Who pulls it. "We pull the permit for you" or "The homeowner pulls the permit, and we help with the paperwork."
- Which jobs usually need one. Name the common ones for your trade. Only list what's true where you work.
- Whether the fee is in the quote. Or listed as its own line. Either is fine. Just say which.
- How it changes the timeline. If waiting on the city or county adds days, say so up front.
- Who's there for the inspection. Do you meet the inspector, or does someone need to be home?
That's it. Five short answers.
Why it helps you
It sorts out the right customers. Someone who wants a job done "without all that" will move on, and that's fine. You didn't want that job anyway.
It also cuts down the phone calls that end with "let me think about it." The question that was holding them up is already answered.
And it shows you do things by the book, without saying "we do things by the book." Anyone can type that. A plain line about who pulls the permit is something they can hold you to.
Keep it true
Only write what you actually do. If it depends on the job, say that: "Some jobs need a permit. We'll tell you at the estimate and handle it if it does."
If the rules or fees change where you work, update the page. An old answer is worse than no answer.
If you want a site that answers what people would otherwise call to ask, like who pulls the permit, talk with Hexacomb. You run the business. We take care of your website.
